Mankato Clinic Partners With the Creative Company
The Mankato Clinic is thrilled to announce a partnership with longtime Mankato-based book publisher The Creative Company to help bring books to the Children’s Health Center.
In 2014, the Mankato Clinic opened the Children’s Health Center on the Wickersham Health Campus and is home to the Pediatrics Department and includes a satellite clinic for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare and Pediatric Therapy Services.
Knowing how books help children thrive, the Mankato Clinic implemented a Reading Nook at the Children’s Health Center four years ago, allowing youth patients the unique opportunity to take home a book of their choosing at each appointment. Understanding the importance of fostering a love of reading, The Creative Company has generously agreed to provide books for the Reading Nook.
About The Creative Company
In 1932, The Creative Company was founded in Mankato by George Peterson as The Creative Educational Society. It produced maps and diagrams for teachers and students, offered chalk game sets called Pla-Boards, and issued a set of rubber stamps called the Creative Pictured Printer.
By the 1980s, the company had become a leading children’s publisher in nonfiction school library books and broadened its offerings to include internationally sought-after picture books. Today, the company is home to innovative publishing imprints such as Amicus, Black Rabbit Books, and RiverStream in addition to those with “Creative” in the name—Creative Education, Creative Editions, and Creative Paperbacks.
