Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Our Responsibility to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Mankato Clinic
We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our work culture, patient care, and community partnerships. This is essential to achieving our purpose to build on our already strong foundation, that improves the well-being of all in our region. We acknowledge that every human deserves the basic right to health and with a strong commitment to health equity and inclusivity, we will address structural and systematic barriers that may be getting in our way of doing better. We treat everyone like family, celebrate differences, embrace all experiences, and nurture a sense of belonging.
The Mankato Clinic DEI Committee
The Diversity,Equity and Inclusion Committee is made up of providers and staff who will guide and hold the Mankato Clinic accountable in the integration of diversity, equity and inclusion into all aspects of what we do.
How we will do this:
- Promoting workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion: Through our hiring, promotion, and training practices, we will evaluate and implement best practices to ensure a workplace culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
- Ensuring that our actions and how we interact with the community, our patients, and each other mirrors how we talk about DEI: Disagreeing without disrespect, seeking common ground as a starting point for dialogue about differences, listening to one’s preconceptions, and teaching others to do the same.
- Advancing health equity: Determining what inequities may exist at the Mankato Clinic and work towards reducing them through data collection and reporting to make informed decisions about systems and policy changes; developing policies and practices that prevent, address, and remedy disparities in our organizational culture and operations.
We will do this work with:
Humility
We will work toward a better future together, responsible to each other and ourselves for the space and energy we give and take.
Curiosity
The direction we seek is bigger than any one person. We actively work to see a broader perspective, gain deeper insight, and work toward equitable representation of diverse identities.
Courage
We choose to lean into the discomfort we experience, knowing we grow in understanding and relationships.
Transformation
It is through invitation, curiosity, and listening that we reach our greatest shared understanding and commitment to transformative action.
